Four shots in finale

Nunez registered four shots (one on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-1 win against Barcelona. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 65th minute.

Analysis: Nunez was productive in Saturday's season finale as he recorded four shots after not having more than one in any previous match this season. He also created one chance and recorded one cross on the attack. It was a solid loan spell for Nunez as he made 17 appearances (15 starts) over the back half of the season and kept two clean sheets with Valencia. He'll now head back to Celta Vigo, though he could be out on loan again next season.

Back available against Girona

Nunez (hamstring) completed Friday's team training session and is available for Saturday's clash against Girona, according to coach Carlos Corberan, per Tribuna VCF. "Unai has been able to complete the training session. They have been short sessions. He is available and that is good news."

Analysis: Nunez had been sidelined since picking up a hamstring issue and missed the Mallorca fixture despite returning to training during the week, but completing a full session is the final confirmation that he is ready to feature again. The defender should slot straight back into his starting role for Valencia against Girona, giving coach Corberan a welcome defensive option back in the fold as the club navigates the final stretch of the La Liga season.

Returns to team training

Nunez (hamstring) returned to team training Monday but remains out for Tuesday's clash against Mallorca. "Unai trained again today but remains unavailable."

Analysis: Nunez had been sidelined with a hamstring issue and his absence had been felt in a Valencia back line already stretched by multiple defensive injuries. His return to the training pitch alongside his teammates Monday is an encouraging sign, and if he comes through the coming sessions without any setbacks he should be back in contention for the upcoming fixtures. That said, it remains to be seen if he can start a game if ready to make the matchday squad. Pepelu could be the one covering in central defense against Mallorca if needed.
